MGS Honours Day

This is a backdated post. On 28 Aug 12, we attended the MGS Honours Day. HY received the School Colours for the 4th year running for gymnastics. To reduce the duration of the event, a representative received the awards collectively for the entire team. This year, HY was given the honour of receiving the awards for the gymnastics team.

TP's 10th Birthday

TP turned 10 this year. For his birthday, he wanted a simple bowling party with a few of his friends from school. This was hardly surprising as he had been very enthusiastic about his bowling recently, having just been selected for the school's training squad. It's also an interesting story how he started bowling earlier this year because there was no one to fetch him from school on Fridays.

In addition to the bowling party, we had a simple dinner at home with family on the actual day. This time, he requested for the All-in-One Seafood Pasta. We invited Cody as well for the party as TP wanted to have a mini Nerf War with Cody and the cousins.

We can only see the crabs here. Somewhere beneath the crabs were prawns, squids, clams and pasta.

The kids had a really quick dinner, leaving the adults to polish the plates.
Why were the kids rushing through dinner? The following photos are self-explanatory.
Discussing tactics

I thought it would be interesting to see how TP has grown over the last 10 years. So here are the photos:
At about 1 month
1 year - at the zoo

2 - home party, with our old slide that used to be everything the kids imagined - a helicopter,  tank etc.

3 - party at Cite des Sciences, Paris
4 - Macdonald's party at Kinderland Opera Estate
5 - bouncing castle party at the previous Katong Mall, now I12. With Jonathan and Brandon.
6 - home party with balloon sculpturing
7 - laser tag party at Katong Park
8 - Luge and Segway party at Sentosa
9 - home party with Nerf war

Roadtrip to KL 8-9 Sep 12

On the weekend of 8-9 Sep 12, the cousins organised a road trip to KL to celebrate the Full Moon celebrations for ET's (it's actually E & T, but I think ET sounds better) daughter Faye. After much deliberation, we decided to charter a coach and eat our way to KL and back.

The party bus

AC starting on the 1st meal for the day - Bali Nasi Lemak

One of the memorable moments for the trip. We left KK behind at the Johor customs. We only noticed it as we were nearing the 1st turnoff off the N-S Highway.

2nd meal - Fishball noodles at Yong Peng

3rd meal - A&W at Ayer Keroh. It's a pity we don't have A&W in Singapore anymore. Even before they closed, they didn't use hard-serve ice cream, and they didn't serve the Root Beer floats in the classic A&W mugs.

4th meal - Kajang Satay

This was the main event - Faye's Full Moon celebration at Restoran Overseas at Imbi. This was our 6th meal actually. We had our 5th meal at the Lot 10 food court - KL Hokkien Noodles and Penang Fried Kway Teow. AC, M and I had a 7th meal at about midnight - beef noodles near Jalan Alor.

At the lower level of the party bus. On the way back, this was the children's cinema.

Fishing on Dark Horse

We finally decided to get our boat, after many, many years of thinking about it. Well, the opportunity seemed right when H imported Dark Horse from the US, and we thought it was a good size boat that would suit our cruising (including watching TP in regattas) and occasional fishing needs. We didn't expect HY and TP to enjoy fishing that much. Either way, it's been great for family outings and trips with H's family. Here are photos from some of the outings.

Our extended family went fishing at the Ubin - Ketam area on National Day.

Dada is proud of his wraparound sunnies, courtesy of Dr James. It allows him to wear his regular glasses inside.

Interesting catch by HL - a Sea Pen

TP enjoys casting as much as actually catching fish

Sure catch Trevally at Smith Marine

Another sure catch KBL. Same price as Shing Shiong @ $13 each

We decided to move Dark Horse to SAFYC in August 12. En route, we fished around Ubin and lunched at Smith Marine fish farm.
We were pleasantly surprised that HY enjoyed fishing

Dry pool at Smith Marine

Catching lunch. A KBL (Barramundi for our Aussie relatives) and a snapper

Wet pool at SAFYC Changi

Fun with the jacuzzi

We went out again with H's family on 14 Oct, together with Dada and Jiajia. This is something that HY had been wanting to do. We had initially wanted to go the weekend earlier, immediately after HY's PSLE. Unfortunately, the weather was threatening. We also decided to postpone the outing a week later because Dada had just gone for his cataract operation. As the boat was now in Changi, we decided to try fishing in the nearby area, up to Bedok Jetty this time.

HY enjoying the light breeze. Bayshore Park in the background.

Another interesting catch by HL. This time it's an octopus.

I love this photo. They look so relaxed, and happy.
