HY's Birthday Party at Skygrm

Today we celebrated HY's 7th Birthday Party at Skygym at Turf City. As she's currently very into gymnastics, we weren't at all surprised when she decided to have a gym party this year. She invited her classmates from school plus our family and friends.

Here's a really funny video of Mun Shook doing the vault, and making sure that the ground is still there after he lands (notice the slapping of the ground).

First Medals

HY and TP wanted HL and me to give them our medals after we finished our runs in the Standard Chartered run. In trying to explain to them that medals are only worth something when they're earned, and not given for free, we encouraged them to join the Kids' Dash to earn their own medals instead. It was a simple event - run, jog, walk or be carried 750m and you'll get a medal. We thought it was a good opportunity to also inculcate in HY and TP the love for sports. For them, besides getting their own medals, it was a good excuse to buy new sports shoes.
All ready at the start line
A bit of running ....
And lots of walking

Phuket

We spent a couple of days in Phuket recently. The last time we were in Phuket was in late 2004, before the Tsunami. So we thought it would be good to see what has happened to Phuket since then. We were pleasantly surprised to see Phuket is still thriving, as if the Tsunami didn't happen at all. The only signs were the memorials and the warning and evacuation signs in the higher risk areas.
For a change, we stayed in Laguna Phuket instead of the usual Patpong, Kata, Karon areas. The next few photos are taken at the Allamanda beach and swimming pool areas.

Leisurely lunch and iced coffee at Tung Ka cafe on Phuket Hill
We were surprised to see that Kan Eang was upgraded to be quite an upmarket restaurant. When we were last here, it reminded us of Kheng Luck in Upper East Coast Road. They still use the coconut husks for the BBQ though.

We were fortunate that our time in Phuket coincided with the Loy Krathong (which translates to float banana boat) festival. We managed to launch a balloon similar to that shown below, and the night sky was very beautiful with thousands of balloons that night.

HY and TP found a new game that they really enjoyed - mini golf.

Wet & Wild

Wet & Wild at Downtown East was recently renovated. We took opportunity to visit the place while the changing rooms and facilities were still nice and clean.

TP's 5th Birthday

For TP's 5th Birthday, he wanted to have a bouncy castle party with his Kindrland mates. We hired the play area at Katong Mall for this and got MacDonald's to deliver the food there.

Aerial view (well, almost) of the play area

TP, Jonathan, Brendon

As usual, we also had a small family celebration for TP on his actual birthday. He's obviously happy with his "Soldiers" birthday cake decorated by Mun Shook Mei.
